Without a strategy, the use of social media is pointless. The measures fizzle out. In most cases, the air is out after a few months. And it has a significantly negative effect if social media channels are orphaned. That's why a clearly coordinated social media strategy is needed.
1. set goals and make them measurable
Social media activities can pursue entirely different goals. It makes a big difference whether you use your social media measures to strengthen your brand or whether, in the end, only conversion on your website is relevant.
When it comes to brand, followers and reactions to your posts can already be very important. But at the end of the day, if you're looking at your revenue, the number of visitors to your website come into question as intermediate goals.
We like to measure ourselves against hard metrics, define KPIs and monitor them over time. For this we install Social Media Analytics and coordinate reporting with you.
2. determine target groups
Personas are a good basis for defining your target groups. Think carefully about what makes your target groups tick. Where they are already active online. On the desktop or mobile. And how much time they spend doing so. Without this basis, you are very likely to miss the target.
3. set content types
How do you want to create your content? Do you want to act primarily with text and images, or are videos conceivable? Some platforms require moving images. However, the effort is significantly higher.
4. define channels
You should be active where your target groups spend the most time. Your products and services are crucial for this, as are the age and gender of your customers. Women with purchasing power for fashion and interior design are certainly best found on Instagram. Decision makers for software products can be found on LinkedIn. In the travel sector, Facebook is still strong. And the best way to reach journalists is via Twitter. Everyone takes a look at Youtube. And for the hip youngsters up to about 25, TikTok may be the best way to go.
5. create editorial plan
Each channel has slightly different requirements. The editorial plan helps you estimate the effort and plan resources. With two posts per week, you meet the minimum requirements for a professional appearance on average. Now, if these are to be in video format for TikTok, there can be quite a bit of effort and budget required. You also need to make sure that you can always respond quickly to user requests.
Once the social media strategy is in place, we can get started. Profiles need to be set up or optimized. And the first posts have to be created. It won't work overnight. But one thing is certain: with a well thought-out social media marketing strategy, you will produce results.
